Primary Responsibilities

As Editor-in-Chief, your key responsibilities include:

  • Editorial board management: Recruiting, training, and managing associate editors and editorial board members
  • Quality control: Maintaining high standards of scholarship and publication ethics
  • Decision-making: Making final decisions on manuscript acceptance and rejection
  • Journal development: Identifying emerging trends and opportunities for special issues
  • Stakeholder engagement: Building relationships with authors, reviewers, readers, and publishers

Strategic Planning

EICs are responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing the journal's strategic plan
  • Setting goals for impact factor, submissions, and international reach
  • Identifying emerging research trends and topics for special issues
  • Evaluating and improving editorial processes and policies

Editorial Board Management

Key aspects of managing the editorial board include:

  • Recruiting diverse and qualified editorial board members

Time Commitment

The typical time commitment for an EIC includes:
